About
Karl is an Army brat who spent much of his youth in Okinawa and Germany.* With very little English television and the internet still a ways off, it was during this time that he developed a love of reading. He began writing in high school (shoutout Ms. Porter) and wrote his first novel in 2008—The Odd Job Squad, the story of a team of eighth graders who operate a secret revenge club.
The Accidental Warriors, also for young readers, is his first graphic novel and has been recognized by Publishers Weekly and the Virginia Library Association for its engaging story and stunning visuals.
For adults, he writes the Kate Albertson Mysteries, a cozy-ish series featuring a top diamond thief who’s also the most unorthodox homicide investigator in town.
Karl currently resides in Los Angeles, and when he’s not writing, Karl can be found riding his bike, enjoying the local music scene, or scoping out a new restaurant.
*He speaks no Japanese but can count to twelve in German.
